14K Dutch Edwardian C.J. Begeer Diamond Crescent Brooch with Original Box c.1902

A breathtaking Dutch Edwardian c.1902 diamond crescent made by Dutch Royal silversmith and goldsmith C.J. Begeer. It is crafted in 14k white and yellow gold, hallmarked with maker's marks. It is set with approx. 1.50ctw of old transitional-brilliant cut diamonds.

The diamonds are of spectacular quality, shimmering brilliantly even in low lighting conditions, and are open-backed.

It is so special that this crescent comes with its original violet blue velvet case, printed in gold foil on the outside of the case, the date "1877 14 Maart (Dutch for March) 1902". The dates tell us that this was a 25th anniversary which was likely a 25th silver wedding anniversary gift.

The inside of the case reads in Dutch, translated "CJ BEGEER - Purveyor to the court - by - late Z.M King - H.M The Queen Dowager - H.R.H The Grand Duchess - of - Saksen/Weimar/Eisenach - UTRECHT".

The brooch opens and closes well and is in excellent condition.

It measures 42mm x 4mm height, and weighs 4.8 grams.
