18K & Platinum French Edwardian Diamond & Pearl Horseshoe Crescent Brooch

A beautiful oversized French Edwardian c.1901-1910 horseshoe crescent brooch, modelled in 18k gold and platinum, hallmarked.

It features a large U shaped brooch that can either be a horseshoe, or a crescent, or even an initial "C", depending on its angle. The beautiful brooch is detailed with fine milgrain edging, with gorgeous alternating pearls and diamonds approx. 0.40ctw by spread, in intricate foliate leaf design.

The brooch has an open-work side gallery, that allows a fine chain to thread through, so it can also be worn as a pendant on a fine chain if desired. The brooch opens and closes well, and comes with its original trombone clasp for added security. It is hallmarked on the brooch pin with the maker's mark, as well as with the French eagle head hallmark for 18k gold on the side of the crescent, and is in good condition.

It measures 41.5mm across, and weighs 6.20 grams.
