18K & Silver Victorian Diamond, Ruby & Enamel Star Vinaigrette Locket

$4,275 $4,500

A beautiful Victorian c.1870-1890 vinaigrette locket, modelled in 18k gold & silver, with beautiful rose cut diamonds and cabochon rubies and pearls. It is love at first sight with this locket!

It features two star motifs, one on the star bail, and the other draws inspiration from the Celtic eternity knot star featured on the locket. It is complemented with black enamel on the edges of the locket as well as cabochon rubies. The black enamel is all intact and is just gorgeous!

There are approx. 0.95ct of diamonds by spread, and 0.90ct rubies, with a total weight of 1.85ctw. It is sourced from France. It is hallmarked with the French owl head hallmark on the bail as well as on the inner locket. The second hallmark is located on the inside of the locket at the bottom edge near the hinge. All diamonds are original and present and there are no missing diamonds.

The sides of the locket is beautifully engraved, and the intricate pierced design on the back is all hand carved, featuring pierced filigree design resembling that of vines and fleur de lis flower patterns. It is just a work of art that truly features the expert craftsmanship of antique pieces.

It opens up to reveal a vinaigrette locket compartment. You can put a perfumed scented cloth inside it, or to store your precious mementos and photo within. The vinaigrette window provides a perfumed scent to sift through the pierced columns, or conversely, a picture would have a peek-through effect while providing discreet privacy of the photo.

This is truly one of the best lockets we've had the pleasure to encounter. It is remarkable in all areas of design, quality, construction, and uniqueness and is certainly an excellent heirloom worthy piece.

It measures 25mm x 38mm with bail, 25mm x 25mm without bail, and weighs 15.76 grams.

We have included 2 videos for your viewing pleasure:

  • 360 degree
  • 45 degree

Note: On the arch where the bail connects to the locket, it may appear as if the holes were to hold diamonds. However, it is not meant to have any diamonds on there, as that is where the bail connects to the locket and it is not a suitable place to set diamonds due to the frequent moving of the bail over it. They are original carving designs meant to give the piece more depth and texture to match the overall engravings on the locket. All diamonds are original to the piece and present, with no missing diamonds.
