18K Georgian Grisaille Portrait Miniature Pendant-Locket

A beautiful Georgian grisaille portrait pendant with hairwork on reverse in 18k gold. It features a gentleman's side profile.

The hairwork on reverse would have been a forget-me-not, however some parts of the hairwork has since disintegrated over time. The pendant is a locket that opens up and closes well, and can be used with or without the contents inside. You may also choose to store your own contents in the locket if desired.

It was a locket brooch that we have converted into a wearable locket pendant, recycling the gold from the brooch pin to be made into a bail pendant.

Grisaille (black & white monochrome) portraits give a form of classicism and simplicity that encapsulates the subjects through the centuries.

It measures 20mm x 33mm with bail, and 20mm x 27mm without bail, and weighs 4.70 grams.

Note: The portrait is a rectangular shaped painted on bone, and then backed by paper to fit the locket.
