18K Victorian Sardonyx Intaglio Arm Crown Leaf Ring

A beautiful Victorian c.1850 intaglio ring, set with a shield shaped sardonyx, carved with an intaglio of an arm rising out of a crown, with the arm holding a leaf.

It is such a unique motif, with the contrast of reddish brown and white of the sardonyx agate being so lovely.

The meaning and symbolism of the various motifs in the intaglio: Crown: Victory, empire & sovereignty - Arm: Rise in industry - Laurel Leaf: Peace & or triumph.

The shoulders of the ring are wonderfully decorated with floral engraving work, and the inner band is hallmarked 18ct (18k) gold, English in origin.

The band is well-structured and comfortable to wear. It is in great condition. It is a US 7 and sizable.

The ring face is 10mm x 11.5mm height, and weighs 2.89 grams.
