9K Victorian Ruby, Opal & Pearl Butterfly Pendant
A beautiful Victorian to Edwardian c.1900-1910 butterfly pendant modelled in 9k gold and set with rubies in its eyes, pearls on its wings and opals on its body.
It is hallmarked 375 for 9k gold, along with English hallmarks on the back of the butterfly, English in origin. It was a brooch that we have converted beautifully into a wearable pendant. The bail is 18k gold.
The opals are just stunning, and are Australian crystal opals. This means that they are slightly translucent, which allows more light to pass through, resulting in a greater opal 'play of colour'.
The butterfly measures 26mm x 25mm with bail, and 26mm x 20mm without bail, and weighs 3.24 grams.
