Sold on Layaway | 14K & Silver Dutch Victorian Floral Leaf Diamond Collet Set Dangle Earrings

A stunning and unique pair of Dutch Victorian c.1880-1890 diamond collet set dangle earrings, modelled in 14k gold and silver, hallmarked.

It features tightly pinched closed back collet settings with a main stud, suspending a cascading floral and leaf design that is so natural and elegant. It is set with sparkly rose cut diamonds with a total weight of 5.92ctw by spread for the pair. The diamonds are closed-backed and foiled, and are in great antique condition.

The design of the dangle earrings are so unique, with each leaf slightly curved in different directions, giving the earrings a very surreal touch. It is followed by three tiny collet set diamonds on the bottom of each earring to complete the look.

It is entirely hand crafted as upon closer inspection, one can observe that the settings are made specficially to the unique shape of each rose cut diamond, no single diamond is alike in shape. This truly gives it a very unique touch that only antique jewellery can accomplish, and is a wonderful showcase of Dutch expert craftsmanship!

The earrings have another surprise, as the bottom half is detachable, making them a two-way wear earring. It must have originally been designed this way by the maker, so that the earrings can be worn day to night. The bottom half of the leaf component can be detached with a hidden hook on the reverse, which allows these earrings to completely change up its look!

It is an original pair of Victorian era earrings and they are not conversions, with all original components and no replacements, offered in great condition.

It is hallmarked with the Dutch oak leaf hallmark for 14k gold on the earring posts, sourced from the Netherlands.

Each earring measures approx. 7.5mm across on the top stud, the dangle drop is 41.5mm length from top to bottom, and the pair weighs a total of 16.18 grams including the butterfly backs.

These earrings would make a fabulous staple to any collection as it can be dressed up or down and paired in numerous ways.

Note: Please note that as the diamonds are foiled, it is advisable that the piece does not get wet or exposed to water. It can be gently cleaned by wiping it down with a wrung out damp cloth.
