18K European Edwardian/Art Deco Diamond Double Key Brooch

A gorgeous European Edwardian to Art Deco transitional period c.1910-1920 large diamond double key pendant brooch, crafted in buttery yellow 18k gold and hallmarked.

It is a large and luxurious size with a hefty feel to it. The key has beautiful and unique transitional period Edwardian curves combined with pre Art Deco elements, with interspaced diamond cartouches along the stem of the key. Following down the stem are beautiful cut-out patterns to the key wards. It shows two keys intertwined together, symbolising "You have the key to my heart", with both keys representing two souls promised to one another.

There are gorgeous old transitional-brilliant cut diamonds and step cut diamonds with a total of approx. 1.42ctw by spread. All stones are original and present, with no missing stones.

This beautiful piece was sourced from Europe, and is likely European in origin. It is hallmarked with '750' for 18k gold, and 'PB' on the reverse of the brooch.

The brooch opens and closes well, and comes with its original trombone clasp for added security. 

Such keys are highly sought after and highly collectible, making them a very rare find. The brooch also functions perfectly as a pendant, by threading a chain through behind the brooch pin. When worn as a pendant, they key does not twist or flip due to the secure hinged design of the brooch, making it very suitable to be worn as a pendant this way.

This would be considered a large sized key brooch, measuring at 17.6mm x 57.2mm height.

A beautiful antique European key that is in excellent condition and heirloom quality.

It weighs 9.35 grams.
