14K Georgian/Victorian Diamond & Turquoise Forget Me Not Flower Repousse Hairwork Brooch

A beautiful late Georgian to early Victorian c.1830-1840 forget me not brooch, beautifully framed with repousse detailing and crafted in 14k gold.

The forget me not flower is set with turquoise and a sparkly rose cut diamond approx. 0.02ct in the middle of the flower.

This is such a special and endearing piece, with such beautiful carved repousse detailing framing the brooch. The reverse contains a glass locket compartment that houses braided hairwork; Judging from the turquoise and diamond used instead of black enamel and pearls, this would have been more likely a sentimental piece rather than a mourning piece. A sentimental piece is gift from one to another as a keepsake, from lovers or friends as a token of affection. The entire brooch is crafted in 14k gold, but only the brooch pin is metal.

It is a wonderful size as the gold frame perfectly matches the size of the flower, with this feature, drawing your entire focus onto the brooch, with the repousse frame effortlessly blending with the flower as one subject, rather than two separate subjects.

This makes the brooch a wonderful addition to a jewellery ensemble where it can be used as a standout brooch worn on a collar, coat or scarf. It can also be worn and layered with other pieces of jewellery, making it a fantastic and versatile piece to be treasured.

It measures 19.6mm x 25mm height, and weighs 4.69 grams.
