14K & Silver Austrian-Hungarian Victorian Turquoise & Pearl Enamel Cherub Flower Basket Brooch-Pendant
A sweet and adorable Victorian Austrian-Hungarian c.1860-1880 enamel cherub flower basket brooch-pendant, crafted in 14k gold topped silver, hallmarked.
Two playful cherubs, depicting Cupid & Psyche, is seen in this rope detail framed around a woven flower basket set with turquoise and pearls. The cherubs are painted with wonderful detail, beautifully capturing the purple butterfly wings and flowers in their hands. One is wearing a lilac dress, the other a white dress. The latter is wearing a necklace and has a matching flower bud in her hair. The enamel is in beautiful excellent condition with no wear or scratches to the enamel.
It is hallmarked on the side of the brooch, stamped “A” for the city assay mark for Vienna, a “PS” maker’s mark as well as a control mark. It is made in 14k gold topped silver, with wonderful rope and weaving technique that truly brings out the piece!
Additionally, it can also be worn as a pendant, where a chain can be slotted through the square shaped slot in the middle of the top frame.
It measures 23.8mm x 42.4mm height, and weighs 10.61 grams.
