14K Victorian Portrait Lady & Gentleman Couple Enamel Pocket Watch
An outstanding Victorian c.1890-1900 portrait enamel pocket watch crafted in 14k gold and hallmarked on the inner case.
The front of the watch features a finely painted enamel portrait of a gentleman courting a lady, with the lady looking over in a teasing manner. They are dressed in matching clothing and enamel colours, signifying that they are a couple. The painting is completed with a black enamel frame of floral and foliate details, with baby blue forget-me-not-flowers on the sides.
The entire watch has a textured gold effect that wonderfully adds texture and depth to the piece, and it is a wonderful detail that at the bottom of the couple's feet is an engraved scene of grass and weeds; Truly no detail has been spared in the design of this watch.
It is marked inside the watch case with "Remontoir" which means 'stem wind', or 'to wind' in French.
It is in running and working condition, and is hallmarked '14K' on the inner case for 14k gold.
It measures 32.5mm across and weighs 27.13 grams.
This would be a valuable addition to any watch lover's collection, a true treasure offered in excellent condition with no wear to the enamel.
