18K & Silver French Victorian Diamond Crescent Pendant
A stunning French Victorian c.1880-1890 crescent pendant modelled in 18k gold and silver, hallmarked.
The crescent is set with gorgeous sparkly old European cut diamonds, and on the smaller accents are glittering rose cut diamonds, with an approx. 1.85ctw by spread. The diamonds are open-backed to allow light to pass through for a maximum sparkle.
It is such a unique design with alternating diamonds with flares in between to represent the comet and shooting stars that was incredibly popular in the Victorian era.
It was a brooch that has been masterfully converted into a wearable pendant with a hidden bail on the reverse. The crescent was sourced from France, and is French in origin, hallmarked with a French assay mark and with all original stones present.
This would be a wonderful and special addition to any crescent lovers collection offered in excellent condition.
The crescent measures 32mm across, and weighs 7.09 grams.
