15K Victorian Opal & Diamond Crescent Star Brooch

An incredible fairytale-like late-Victorian c.1880-1890 brooch featuring a double row crescent with a "sky full of stars". The outer row is set with opals and the inner row is set with rose cut diamonds. The 5 stars are alternated between opals and diamonds.

It is modelled in 15k (15ct) gold, with an impressive openwork gallery, and open-backed setting.

The opals are approximately 2.12 ctw and the diamonds approximately 1.22 ctw. It measures 32mm across, and is an impressive and rare piece amongst antique crescent pieces.
