![]()
A beautiful Victorian c.1840-1850 floral bangle, crafted in 9k gold and set with rose cut diamonds approx. 2.50ctw by spread, and enamel in buttercup settings, European in origin.
The bangle is a beautifully crafted piece from the mid-Victorian era, and such bangles were often decorated with large floral scenes as its centerpiece. This particular bangle features a large diamond flower, surrounded by smaller diamond petals decorated with blue enamel, and green enamel on the sides as leaves.
Additionally, it comes with an 'en tremblant' effect - a French term used to describe jewellery with parts that 'tremble' with movement, to give the piece movement and bring it to life. In this bangle, it doesn't have springs or bounce, but the center floral and side pieces can be moved gently as an added feature.
It is a gorgeous bangle that can be worn mid-arm, as with most bangles worn during the early to mid Victorian era. The oval rounded shape of the bangle is specifically designed in such a way that it would not slip or fall down the arm when worn in this manner.
In the picture gallery you can see a painting of Queen Victoria in Dublin Castle, c.1849, painted by John Partridge - In the painting, she is seen wearing her bangles mid-arm.
It measures 19cm, approx. 7.48" in inner circumference, and from left to right it measures 65mm or 2.5”, and weighs 12.35 grams.
