15K English Victorian Diamond & Sapphire Flower Cluster Locket c.1876 with Double Portrait

An exquisite and solid 15k (15ct) gold, double-portrait locket set with old European cut diamonds and a dazzling center sapphire.

The locket is crafted in 15k gold (hallmarked “15ct” on the inside), along with the date “24th July 1876”. It is English in origin and expertly crafted in a gorgeous smooth satin finish.

A wonderful and luscious large size, measuring 36.4mm x 63.8mm with bail, 36.4mm x 46.1mm without bail, and weighs 30.07 grams. It retains both its original glass panels and bezels, a rare treat!

There are approx. 0.48ct of diamonds by spread, and 0.30ct sapphire, with a total weight of 0.78ctw. The stones are open-backed, and the diamonds and sapphire sparkle with a fiery intensity.

The locket comes with a double portrait of a handsome gentleman and charming lady, both meticulously hand painted. We have carefully removed the portraits from the frames and have cleaned the locket, so it is ready to store your precious mementos and photos inside. The locket will come with the original portraits that has been carefully stored in a protective case for safekeeping.

We are delighted to offer an important piece of history that is a stunning and classic design. It would remain a staple in any jeweller lover's collection, and is offered in excellent condition.

Note: The edges of the portraits will not be seen when it is properly fitted into the frame. Any marks seen on the portraits' edges are the placemarks where it is fitted into the frame of the locket - once it is placed into the locket, it would be seamless from the front. Both portraits are in excellent condition.
