18K & Platinum American Art Deco Croton Diamond & Sapphire Watch Ring

A rare and exquisite American Art Deco Croton c.1930-1935 watch ring modelled in 18k gold and platinum, set with old brilliant cut diamonds and sapphires, hallmarked and signed.

We are so delighted to be able to offer such a rare offering in excellent condition. It is a manual hand wind movement that is in a watch ring case. The watch ring movement is in running and working condition. The watch ring case is original to the movement, and it is an all original and not a conversion piece.

It is set with sparkly old transitional-brilliant cut diamonds approx. 0.50ct by spread, and step cut sapphires 0.17ct, with a total weight of 0.67ctw. The sides of the ring are further detailed with stunning hand etched engravings all around! The back of the ring is similarly engraved all around, signalling that it is a very high quality piece.

It is hallmarked '18k' on the inner band of the ring, and 'Platinum' on the inside of the watch ring case. In the Art Deco era, it was common to use both 18k gold and platinum in a single piece. The movement is signed 'Croton Watch Co. Inc., Swiss'. - For Swiss movement.

The Croton Watch Company was founded in 1878 along the border of Italy and Switzerland, it later relocated its company headquarters from Europe to the United States in the late 1920s, and they continued to use Swiss movements.

The shoulders and ring shank have an intricate design that blends the watch ring case to the band, giving it a seamless transition, truly a wonderful piece.

The ring face measures 14mm x 31.5mm height, and weighs 10.60 grams.

It is a US 6.5 and not sizable. We do not reccomend sizing this piece as it might alter the stability of the watch ring case.
