14K Art Deco Lord's Prayer Bible Book Pendant Charm (6 Languages) With Original Box
An astonishing petite Art Deco c.1920-1930, “The Lord’s Prayer” book charm, crafted in 14k gold with the book sleeve jacket (with a working clasp!), original leather bounded book with its original fitted box. It is hallmarked 585 on the bail and was sourced from Austria.
What is even more special is that this prayer book doesn’t just include one language of prayer, but 6 language versions ALL printed in this tiny book charm! “Our Father” prayer in these languages:
- The Lord’s Prayer (English)
- Le Notre Père (French)
- Das Vaterunser (German)
- El Padre Nuestro (Spanish)
- Het Onze Vader (Dutch)
- Fader Vår (Swedish)
It is a very rare example and museum quality, made even more amazing that it is found together with its original fitted box. Many examples are made in gold gilt, often only in 1 language - whereas this piece is in 14k solid gold and in 6 languages, making it truly a collector’s piece. We have yet to see another example that comes with its original box as well.
The book goes into the gold sleeve and the tiny clasp opens and closes perfectly. It even comes with its original little gold chain so they are always attached and secure. Additionally, the original fitted box also comes with a spring mechanism that springs the lid open when the clasp is pressed. A really cute feature.
We think that it might have been a souvenir charm for a European pilgrimage trip, which is why the charm comes in 6 languages.
It measures 8mm x 12mm height with bail, 8mm x 7mm height without bail, and weighs 0.65 grams. It is in excellent condition.
Note: This listing does not include the chain, and it is shown for modelling purposes only.
