14K Edwardian Diamond & Violet Enamel Locket
A stunning Edwardian c.1905-1910 violet enamel locket in its sweetest form, crafted in 14k gold, hallmarked.
The locket is beautifully preserved in 14k gold in a rich bloomed semi-matte finish, featuring a lifelike violet flower with gold stems on the center of the locket. The enamelling technique is so detailed that one can easily observe the veins of the flower petails as it appears lifelife and 3D. Art Nouveau influences can be seen in the design of this locket.
A central old European cut diamond rests in the middle of the flower, approx. 0.10ct by spread, further accented with a pearl on the flower stem.
The interior of the locket is hallmarked '14k' for 14k gold. It opens and closes well and retains both of its original bezel inserts. It can fit two photographs on either side.
The reverse is just as beautiful, with a special monogram engraving of the letters "WGB".
It measures 30.5mm x 47.2mm with bail, 30.5mm x 38.4mm without bail, and weighs 15.35 grams.
This is a wonderful work of art that is both rare and exceptional. It is rare to come across original flower enamel lockets that are not conversion pieces. This locket is offered in its original form, with all original components in excellent condition.
Note: To retain the semi-matte finish of bloomed gold pieces, we recommend not to polish the piece. If you really have to, for example, remove a darkened tarnish mark, please ensure to only use a jewellery polish cloth, and with very light handed motions and only very sparingly.
