The bird is stunning with glistening rose cut diamonds with an old world charm, approx. 1.30ct by spread, alongside charming rubies along its wing tips, head, and eyes, 0.30ct, with a total weight of 1.60ctw. It is closed back and appear to be foiled and is in great condition with no discolouration. All stones are original and present with no missing stones.

This beautiful piece was sourced from Europe, and is likely European in origin. It was originally a brooch and has been masterfully converted into a wearable pendant.

The bird pictured is likely to be of the species bird of paradise. The bird of paradise fascinated Georgian and Victorian society, as they were often depicted in paintings, texts, furniture, and even jewellery as seen in this gorgeous example, symbolising the moral symbol of a pure existence, like an angel with it's long feathered tail and elaborate plumes.

We are immensely excited to be able to offer such an incredible and rare piece in our collection, as antique bird jewellery is highly collectible and always sought after by antique collectors. This wonderful piece would be a great addition to any antique lover's precious collection.
