14K Italian Victorian Diamond Cluster Ring
A stunning Italian Victorian era c.1870-1880, open-work large cluster set with large rose cut diamonds, in a 'triple' row swirl. It is modelled in 14k gold, and faintly hallmarked on the inner band of the ring.
The shoulders are decorated with a unique leaf shaped trio split shank, resembling a forked triple leaf, and a lifted gallery. This is all original to the ring, and there have been no modifications done to the ring. Additionally, the prongs holding the rose cut diamonds in the ring are so finely and expertly done, that they almost seem "invisible" to the eye, blending to the surroundings.
This cannot be achieved with modern machinery today, as the prongs in this ring are handmade and not cast, and is a true testament to Italian craftsmanship of the era from the past.
The ring face measures 22mm across, and the diamonds are approx. 4.25ctw by spread. They have a slight champagne tint to them depending on the lighting which is just lovely.
It is currently a US 7.75 and sizable.
