14K & Silver German Biedermeier/Historicism Diamond & Sapphire Ring

A gorgeous German Biedermeier/Historicism c.1850-1880 diamond & sapphire ring, crafted in 14k gold & silver and hallmarked.

It is hallmarked 585 on the inner band, and features a center sapphire approx. 1.17ct, flanked by 2 smaller rose cut diamonds 0.40ct by spread.

The ring has a gorgeous "ring butt", with beautiful carved details to the reverse. The stones are closed-back.

The ring face measures 13.5mm x 50mm height, including the shoulders.

It is a US 8, and weighs 1.94 grams. It is possible to size this ring, however due to its fine construction (as gold was scarce in post Napoleonic wars Germany during the Biedermeier era), we recommend to leave the ring as it is without modifying it.

As this ring is set with a sapphire that is fairly large, we consider this to be a ring from the 'second Biedermeier' wave in Central Europe, although it bears close elements to rings from the c.1790 Georgian era.

It is a beautiful ring that would look great both on its own, or as a stacking ring. It is not a perfect ring to say, but it is full of character and charm.

This ring is priced at a third of the price of similar rings in the market - We have priced it accordingly to its condition and it provides a great value and entry point for collectors who have been looking for such a ring.

Note: There are surface abrasions to the sapphire appropriate to its age. There are old gold repairs (repairs done in gold) to the side and back of the shank. Please refer to the pictures and 360 degree video provided. The structural integrity of the ring is not affected.
