14K & Silver Victorian Diamond & Opal Crescent Pendant

A spectacular Victorian c.1890-1900 opal and diamond diamond crescent pendant, modelled in 14k gold & silver.

The crescent is set with the most stunning alternating collet set opals and diamonds, further accented by rose cut diamonds on the ends of the crescent. The opals have amazing fire and colour to them, with deep blues and greens and flashes of red and orange. The diamonds and opals are open-backed to allow maximum light to pass through for a fiery play of colour and sparkle.

There are approx. 1.75ct by spread of diamonds, and 1.80ct opals, with a total weight of 3.55ctw.

It was a brooch that has been converted beautifully into a wearable pendant. It comes with its original detachable screw-in brooch pin, so it may always be converted back into a brooch by adding a brooch catch later on to the crescent if desired.

This is a particularly wonderful and rare example of a Victorian era crescent and is in excellent wonderful condition.

It measures 33mm across without bail, and weighs 6.55 grams.
