14K & Silver Victorian Diamond, Sapphire, Ruby & Opal Butterly Brooch-Pendant

A gorgeous Victorian c.1890-1900 butterfly brooch, crafted in 14k gold and silver. It is set with rose cut diamonds, sapphires, rubies and opals in the most wonderful rainbow of colours.

It is such a unique and rare piece, as many of the butterfly brooches from the Victorian era were set with pearls in the center of the butterfly's body. This piece is unique in that it doesn't have pearls, but is instead set with precious gemstones of sapphires in the middle, and two cabochon opals, with diamonds and rubies.

The butterfly's feeler also has a hidden bail, which allows this piece to be worn as either a brooch or pendant. The brooch opens and closes well, and it comes with an added security safety chain and pin.

The piece glistens and sparkles with such beauty, and the play of colour on the opals are remarkable. It is a wonderful example of Victorian era butterfly jewellery and is a worthy piece in excellent condition.

There are approx. 0.54ct diamonds by spread, 2.07ct sapphires, 1.34ct rubies, and 0.96ct opals, with a total weight of approx. 4.91ctw.

It measures 45mm x 33mm height, and weighs 14.70 grams.
