14K Victorian Diamond & Ruby Crescent Brooch

An outstanding large Victorian c.1870-1890 diamond & ruby crescent, modelled in 14k gold.

There are thirteen oval cut rubies in the most stunning of magenta shade with purplish undertones, approx. 4.30ct, and further accented by 26 old European cut diamonds 1.05ct, with a total weight of approx. 5.35ctw.

The rubies are excellent in quality and very clear, glistening brightly with various hues of reddish-purples. The rubies and diamonds are open-backed, along with its original hinge and C-clasp. It is accompanied with a gorgeous pierced gallery as its side profile.

It is important to note that this crescent is also considered a large size at 37.3mm across, with a majority of Victorian era crescents ranging from 25mm to 33mm. This would be larger than the average antique crescent.

It measures 37.3mm across, and weighs 6.44 grams.

This crescent would certainly make a fine and high quality heirloom-worthy piece to any collection.
