18K American Art Deco Strobell & Crane Diamond Guilloche Enamel Monogram MW/WM Locket

A rare Art Deco c.1920 guilloche enamel locket from the renowned Strobell & Crane Company, crafted in 18k white gold, with intricate flower detailings and hyper-realistic guilloche enamelling of a wreath of flowers, and a fleur de lis on the top. The middle features an old transitional brilliant cut diamond, approx. 0.20ct.

The enamel work is divine, and it is evident from the quality of the enamelling where it is almost life-like, with movement and depth when seen from different angles.

The locket is hallmarked on the inside with 'S18C' for Strobell & Crane Company, a prestigious jeweller from Newark, NJ of the early 20th century, whose work often rivaled the creations of other preeminent makers of the period.

It is especially hard to find guilloche enamel creations from Strobell & Crane, with the occasional piece occasionally surfacing every 2-4 years, as most of their pieces are now highly sought after and part of personal collections from private collectors.

It retains both of its original locket covers in the interior, that we have cleaned and is ready to be stored with your precious photos. The back of the locket features a monogram "MW/WM" in artistic engraving.

It meaasures 24mm x 44mm with bail, 24mm x 40mm without bail, and weighs 16 grams.

Note: The circular white spots seen are from the reflection of the light during photography or dust particles. There is no visible damage to the enamel, and it is in great condition.
