18K French Georgian/Victorian Diamond Gentleman Portrait Miniature Brooch
A gorgeous French Georgian to Victorian c.1830-1850 portrait miniature of a gentleman in red clothing. It is a brooch surrounded by a border of rose cut diamonds approx. 0.40ctw by spread, modelled in 18k gold, hallmarked.
The portrait is painted with amazing execution. Interestingly, the clasp of the brooch is not a simple C-catch brooch, but in a specially designed shape made to resemble a Fleur de lis, which is very unique. It opens and closes well. It is hallmarked with French hallmarks on the clasp.
This is a wonderful piece that would make a fabulous addition to any collection.
The brooch measures 24.5mm x 35mm height, and weighs 10.11 grams.
Note: There are tiny soft solder marks to the back of the brooch. The price of the listing reflects this. This is an old repair and cannot be seen from the front when worn. It does not affect the integrity and structure of the piece.
