18K French Victorian Barley Chain Extender with Dog Clip 3.375”
A wonderful and intricately detailed French Victorian c.1860 chain extender, crafted in 18k gold and hallmarked.
It measures 3.375” long including the clip; A perfect length to be used to extend chains that are too short, or to liven up your look by adding another dimension to your neck stack.
The chain comes with a screw system dog clip, where you turn the screw clockwise to open and anti-clockwise to close the clip. These type of dog clips were the mid-Victorian predecessors to the spring system dog clips later in the second half of the 19th century, used in watch chains.
It has a barley link, which is a more intricate type of rope chain, resembling barley wheat, and the width thickness is approximately 3mm, and it weighs a total of 5.33 grams.
This is a wonderfully detailed piece, with a gold buttery yellow tone, and would be a great addition for any chain enthusiast's collection.
