18K French Victorian Diamond & Pearl Crowned Double Heart Brooch

A gorgeous French Victorian c.1840-1860 featuring a crowned double heart brooch, crafted in 18k gold & silver.

It is set with rose cut diamonds approx. 0.30ct on the top and left, and small pearls on the right.

There are three flower stems on the top of the brooch unifying the two hearts, which is called a 'crowned heart' brooch, signifying the union of two hearts, often gifted as an engagement or wedding present. This is a particularly lovely and sweet example of a crowned heart brooch.

The brooch is closed-back, and is set with tiny collet settings. It is hallmarked on the C clasp and pin. The brooch is a little loose, but it opens and closes well. For extra security, you may add a silicon rubber tip (used in the backings of earrings) to the end of the brooch pin when wearing so it is secure.

It measures 19mm x 23mm height, and weighs 3.62 grams.

Note: Please note that as the diamonds are closed-back (although it does not appear to be foiled), it is advisable that the piece does not get wet or exposed to water. It can be gently cleaned by wiping it down with a wrung out damp cloth.
