18K French Victorian Diamond, Rock Crystal & Black Enamel Initial C Locket

A gorgeous French Victorian c.1870-1880, French Napoleon III, 18k hallmarked gold locket with a rock crystal quartz front window panel, along with an engraved and pierced floral initial "C", with a black enamel surround. The “C” is affixed to the rock crystal and the locket is an all original piece with no modifications.

The reverse also has black enamel with a starry starry night background, set with rose cut diamonds approx. 0.20ctw by spread.

As the front of the locket panel is rock crystal, it allows the interior contents of the front section of the locket to be seen. Additionally, the interior of the locket has another inner glass door panel.

The frame of the locket is beautifully engraved with edged scallop detailing all around. A truly astounding initial "C" piece! It can be worn either with the initial in front, or the starry diamonds as the front.

It measures 20mm x 36mm with bail, and 20mm x 25mm without bail, and weighs 8.32 grams.

Note: The black enamel has light wear to it commensurate with its age.
