18K French Victorian Diamond & Ruby Snake Slider Pendant
A fabulous French Victorian c.1870-1890 snake slider pendant modelled in 18k gold, hallmarked.
The snake's head is decorated with a flower cluster of rose cut diamonds 0.25ct by spread, and a ruby 0.40ct in the middle, with a total weight of approx. 0.65ctw. It's body is intricately detailed with engravings to resemble the snake's scales for added realism.
It is a slider pendant, which can be worn in two ways. Firstly, through the snake's head and body. Secondly, hanging on a hidden bail at the snake's tail. This is a unique and hard to find, versatile piece and a wonderful example of French craftsmanship - The snake's mouth has a large opening as well, so small pearl necklaces or even wider width chains can be threaded through to be worn. (To see the snake's mouth opening, please view the last video in the picture gallery).
It is hallmarked with the French eagle head hallmark for 18k gold.
It measures 40mm x 17mm, and weighs 5.88 grams.
Note: This listing does not include the chain, and it is shown for modelling purposes only.
