18K Georgian/Victorian Gentleman Portrait Ring
A gorgeous late Georgian to early Victorian c.1830-1840, portrait locket ring of a handsome gentleman, hallmarked.
The ring has beautiful intricate detailing all around the front, back and sides. The front features stunning engravings, and the sides of the ring have a swirl effect with a triple-split shank on each side. The reverse of the ring features a glass panel with a frame of continued engraving details. The jeweller who made this ring certainly spared no expense to the creation as seen from the details of this ring.
The front panel can be lifted and closed like a door vertically, and is surrounded with amazing engraving work all around. Inside houses a portrait of a gentleman wearing a red coat, backed by pink silk. It is very exquisitely painted with very fine details capturing the sitter's expression perfectly.
It is hallmarked with the French owl head hallmark for 18k gold.
