Sold on Layaway | 18K & Silver Austrian-Hungarian Victorian Turquoise & Pearl Initial Z Brooch-Pendant

An outstanding Austrian-Hungarian c.1870-1880 initial "Z" brooch-pendant set with lovely turquoises and pearls and crafted in 18k gold and silver, hallmarked.

The brooch-pendant features an intricate design with the initial "Z" in the middle, surmounted by three gold leaves on each side and two smaller gold leaves on the base. There is a crown that is set with pearls around the initial.

It is hallmarked with Austrian-Hungarian hallmarks for silver and 18k gold, and maker's marks on the brooch pin as well as on the hidden bail on the reverse of the brooch. It is interesting to note that the hidden bail on the brooch is an original design and not a conversion, making it an all original piece and not a conversion.

The brooch pin opens and closes well. It is very rare to come across an original antique piece that is an initial "Z" - as it is a hard to source and uncommon initial.

We are so excited to be able to offer it in excellent condition, with no modifications or repairs to the piece. It is offered in its stunning and original condition, with no missing gemstones and all stones are present.

It is always a delight to come across Austrian-Hungarian pieces as the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy empire reigned from c.1867 to c.1918.

It measures 43.7mm x 39.5mm height, and weighs 12.12 grams.
