18K & Silver French Victorian Diamond, Onyx & Pearl Locket

A delightful French Victorian c.1870-1880 onyx locket modelled in 18k and silver, hallmarked, with its original diamond bail.

The locket is crafted in onyx that is in great condition, paired with swirling motif resembling foliate and leaves. The motif is balanced with pearls on each side, and in the center holds a fiery old European cut diamond approx. 0.25ct, and further accentuated with rose cut diamonds, totalling 0.65ctw by spread.

On the reverse, there is a removable bevelled glass cover that is set with a thick and sturdy glass. It can be used to store photographs and mementos.

It is always a delight whenever a locket comes with a diamond bail, as elaborated bails often signify that a piece was particularly important and great care was taken into the design and construction of it, bail included. The bail is also wide enough to accommodate for wider width chains, and the internal width of the bail measures 5.7mm.

It is a medium to large size, measuring 35mm x 64mm with bail, and 35mm x 44mm without bail, and weighing 24.35 grams.

Note: Any marks seen on the pictures are from reflection & dust particles taken during photography. The locket is in great condition.
