18K & Silver French Victorian Diamond & Pearl Initial M Locket
A breathtaking French Victorian c.1880-1900 diamond and pearl initial "M" glass locket, modelled in 18k gold and silver, hallmarked.
Certainly a rare piece of French jewellery, it features a halo of rose cut diamonds around the locket, base of the bail and even the locket bail is detailed with more diamonds. It is hallmarked with the French eagle head hallmark for 18k gold, and the French boar head for silver.
The back of the locket opens up with a glass panel, and inside the locket rests a cursive initial diamond "M". The initial is removable and is not affixed to the locket, so the locket can be used to store a photograph and other mementos if desired. It is original to the locket.
There are approx. 1.15ctw by spread of rose cut diamonds.
It measures 26mm x 43mm with bail, 26mm x 29.5mm without bail, and weighs 9.84 grams.
It is such a stunning and truly precious piece that would be an excellent addition to any jewellery collection.
