18K & Silver Victorian Crescent Stars Pendant
A beautiful Victorian c.1890-1900 multi-star crescent crafted in 18k gold and silver.
It is such a beautiful piece with the crescent lined with multiple little stars in a buttercup setting, set with rose cut diamonds approx. 0.20ctw by spread.
The crescent is unique in that it has a pierced gallery not only on the outer curve of the crescent, but also a pierced gallery on the inner curve of the crescent.
Most crescents often only have a pierced gallery on the outer curve, so this piece is certainly rather special as the double pierced gallery opens up the piece much more, complementing the design with the open-work stars along the crescent.
It was a brooch that is now converted into a wearable pendant on a 18k gold bail. The diamonds are open-backed which allows for more light to pass through.
It measures 25mm across, and weighs 2.85 grams.
