18K & Silver Victorian Diamond Nail Pendant
A giant diamond studded nail from the Victorian era, c.1880-1890, modelled in 18k gold & silver, and set with an array of rose cut diamonds and in the center, an old mine cut diamond with an exceptional high crown.
The nail can represent strength, resilience, and an unwavering spirit that does not succumb under pressure. It is such an important symbol that gives rise to the saying, "tough as nails".
This Victorian nail was a brooch, and converted seamlessly into a pendant. It can now be worn either with short or long chains - on its own or layered - In either, it makes for a powerful and impactful symbolic statement piece. It's eye-catching size is at an impressive 70mm (approx. 2.75 inches) in length, without bail, and 75mm in length with bail. The head of the nail measures 9mm across, and the remaining length measures 3mm across.
The diamond in the center is approx. 0.50ct, and the remaining rose cut diamonds are approx. 3.50ct by spread, totalling 4.00ctw.
