18K Victorian Diamond Flaming Heart Blue Enamel Pendant

A stunning Victorian c.1840-1850 blue enamel flaming heart pendant, modelled in 18k gold.

The pendant features a flaming heart motif on a blue enamel background, set with foiled rose cut diamonds approx. 1.76ctw by spread.

The reverse of the pendant is a beautiful pierced gold gallery that has a flower pattern. It was sourced from Spain and is likely European in origin.

It was likely originally a very large clasp for an important jewellery ensemble, and probably split up between family members who then had the clasp welded shut to be transformed into a more wearable pendant.

It measures 28mm x 48mm with bail, 28mm x 38mm without bail, and weighs 18.56 grams.

Note: Please note that as the diamonds are foiled, it is advisable that the piece does not get wet or exposed to water. It can be gently cleaned by wiping it down with a wrung out damp cloth.
