18K Victorian Diamond & Ruby Crescent Star Pendant

A beautiful and rare Victorian c.1880-1890 crescent star, modelled in 18k gold, with the star resembling a shooting star nestled beside the crescent.

What an incredibly sweet motif! In Victorian era symbolism, crescents alongside flowers are often depicted as 'honeymoon' brooches. However, when it is alongside a star, as in the case of this diamond & ruby crescent star, it depicts a 'guiding light'.

It is set with rose cut diamonds and rubies. The setting has a delicate pierced gallery on the side, which gives the piece a gorgeous profile, elevating the gemstones.

It is also open-backed, which allows more light to pass through for a subtle and gorgeous sparkle.

It measures 17mm across.
